The Top 5 Benefits of a Heated Swimming Pool

The Top 5 Benefits of a Heated Swimming Pool

Swimming pools are great fun, but no one likes a freezing cold pool. Read on to learn some of the best benefits of having a heated swimming pool.

Keyword(s): heated swimming pool

If you're thinking about getting a heated swimming pool, look no further.

Your heated pool can give you years of enjoyment year-round, comfortable use with many more benefits that often go unconsidered.

Let's dive right in!

1. All Year Use

One of the main benefits of a heated swimming pool is the fact that it can be used all year long, even during harsh winters.

A heated pool also means that you can comfortably swim during any time of the day. You can take a dip before the sun rises or long after sunset.

Heating your swimming pool gives you much greater flexibility regarding when you, your family, or you guests can comfortably swim.

2. No Damage Due to Freezing Conditions

In unheated pools, winter freezing can cause serious damage to the pool and the surrounding area.

Your pool lining or tiling can buckle and break from fluctuating temperatures, especially if you drain your pool for the winter.

Whether or not you drain your pool, freezing temperatures can also cause serious and expensive damage to your pool's plumbing system.

Even draining the pool doesn't completely safeguard it from the damage that a cold winter can cause.

Having a constant flow of warm water prevents your pipes from freezing and any associated damages. It will prevent any severe structural damage, as well.

With the ability to use your pool all year and the added benefit of protecting your pipes and your property, a heated swimming pool is both cost-saving and enjoyable.

3. Greater Home Value

Many people overlook the added benefit of increased home value when they are considering installing a heated swimming pool.

While any pool can add some value to a home, a heated swimming pool is actually worth a lot more. There are a few outside determiners, like landscaping, but a heated swimming pool can increase the value of your home by 8 to 15% on average.

This is, in part, due to the damage you can avoid by installing a heater.

Even if you aren't planning to sell you home anytime soon, it's always a good idea to give its value a boost. And if you're looking to sell, installing a heated swimming pool is a great way to raise your asking price!

4. Added Health Benefits

Swimming provides an excellent workout for people of all ages and capabilities. In fact, water aerobics is commonly recommended for older people or anyone with joint problems or injuries.

However, cold water and limited seasonal and daytime use can hinder the benefits of swimming for exercise and health.

Cold water can even increase respiratory ailments and joint pain or stiffness. A heated pool offers the perfect solution for those looking to exercise or heal.

It can relax the muscles, ease the respiratory system, and allow you to work out for longer periods all year long.

5. Overall Comfort

A heated swimming pool is more home-friendly and inviting for everyone.

Your kids might not mind, but many people can't bear the idea of diving into ice-cold water.

You'll not spend a lot of time poolside debating whether to dive into the water, as usually is the case with unheated swimming pools.

Wrapping Things Up on the Benefits of a Heated Swimming Pool

If your pool is lacking a heater these benefits should help you in making your choice.

Don't forget that if you're worried about the cost of maintaining a heated pool, there are options in place. Consider a solar pool cover, which reduces heat loss when the pool isn't in use and can save a lot on your heating bill.

Be Safe and Cool With These Swimming Pool Safety Tips

Be Safe and Cool With These Swimming Pool Safety Tips

We all know not to run near the pool, but what other swimming pool safety tips should we know to keep our friends and family safe? Find out here.

Keyword(s): swimming pool safety

You know the basics of swimming pool safety, but when it comes to protecting your family, the basics aren't enough.

Be Safe and Cool With These Swimming Pool Safety Tips

Make A Clear List of Acceptable Behavior

When it comes to swimming pool safety, the best way to start is to make sure that everyone is on the same page when it comes to knowing what you will and won't tolerate in and around your pool.

Post the rules in an obvious place, and instruct your family members to make sure new guests read them before diving in.

It's also a good idea to clearly list the names and contact information of both local emergency services (beyond just 911) and close friends and neighbors that can be contacted in an emergency.

Master Life-Saving Skills

Last year, 95 people drowned swimming while unsupervised.

If you're the one responsible for the swimming pool safety of your children and their friends, make sure you know the proper lifesaving techniques.

Enroll in a local CPR class, learn how to provide basic First Aid Care, and even AED. Be sure to ask adult and children alike whether they have any pre-existing health conditions that might need to be taken into account in an emergency situation.

Take Weather Into Account

Water-related lightning strikes account for 8% of all injuries sustained when a bolt of lightning hits a human - whether they're outdoors and hit directly, or swimming in an indoor pool and affected by an electric shock.

If lightening strikes outside, instruct swimmers to head indoors, and wait at least a half an hour after hearing the last strike to resume activities. If indoors, use common sense and avoid standing near electrical appliances.

Check The Integrity of Your Pool Regularly

Taking preventative matters to protect yourself is a huge part of swimming pool safety.

First of all, keep chemicals used to clean the pool out of reach of children, (and even pets) preferably locked away in storage.

And if you've got a sound system or any other sort of electrical appliance near the pool, make sure it cannot fall in the water if knocked over. Be sure to also check to make sure that wires and cords are firmly taped down to prevent a disaster.

Regularly assess the sturdiness of any handrails (especially when it comes to stairs leading in and out of the pool) or guardrails surrounding your swimming pool.

Don't just check for wobbliness -- also make sure your rails aren't gathering rust, which can also cause problems with their effectiveness.

Finally, ensure that the pool covering or lining is free of any rips and tears, especially after a rain or snowstorm. Even the most durable of covers aren't immune to mother nature, and deadly bacteria can seep in through any cracks in the lining.

Stay Safe and Enjoy The Swim!

Now that you know some of the best swimming pool safety tips, it's time to evaluate if your pool is up to the standards required to keep your family safe.

7 Awesome DIY Pool Party Ideas

Who doesn't want to throw an awesome pool party? These DIY pool party ideas keep things fun, colorful, and easy. Enjoy.

Minimal mess, with maximum fun? No matter your age or the time of year, check out our top seven pool party ideas to celebrate any occasion

Popsicles For Any Age

Whether you're hosting your child's birthday party or a work event, one of our favorite pool party ideas when it comes to refreshments is a classic: popsicles!

For kids, they provide an easy activity for children that may not know how to swim, or who simply want a break from the water. Plus, they can choose their own juice flavors and write cute messages on the sticks!

For the adults, add a little liquor to your frozen treats. For some of the best booze-filled popsicle recipes and ideas, check out these awesome options

Make Your Own Shade

Nearly 20 million Americans own a pool - but unfortunately, not all of us own our own palm trees.

To compensate, make your own out of balloons or construction paper, which you can hang from your porch. For an even more beachy touch, scatter some seashells and place a few beach toys around the edges of the pool.

Get Games Going

Sure, you know the basics like Marco Polo and the biggest splash contest, but think outside the box by playing more competitive games like water polo or water volleyball - winner keeps the beach ball, and everyone has to sign it!

Get Crafty

Swimming is great, but sometimes you need a break.

Our next pool party idea? Set up a few craft stations on the porch. We like the idea of stringing your own necklaces, filling up vessels with colored sand, or even having guests draw portraits of each other with their eyes closed!

DIY Invites

When it comes to the best pool party ideas, don't forget to jazz up your invitations!

Why not write the details down on a bucket or beach ball, and then hand deliver them to your guests?

As a bonus, if you're having a smaller party, you could ask each guest to bring their favorite poolside party game!

Say Thanks

No party is complete without an awesome favor to help guests remember it.

Why not decorate a pair of sunglasses with the date of the party written in puffy paint? Offer a variety of colors and let guests choose their favorite shade of shades!

Lounge Around

If you're into sewing, give guests a unique and personalized way to relax by stitching their names into some cheap beach towels.

This will take the towels to the next level, and keep your name in guests' minds the next time they're relaxing by the pool!

(And hey, if you're not so skilled with a needle and thread, it's likely that there are several affordable options to monogram guests' names or the party date on a beach towel in your area. Don't worry, we won't tell!)

You're Gonna Make A Splash with These Pool Party Ideas!

We hope you've enjoyed this list of our favorite pool party ideas.

Thank you Fonda!

"Prompt, excellent service. Austin was extremely contentiousness and went above and beyond to make sure all systems were working at top efficiency. And, the final bill came in lower than original estimate.
When does that happen?"
